The decisions that shape your site
Theme and design
Tutor LMS renders course, lesson, dashboard and checkout pages from its own templates, which a theme can override by placing copies in a tutor/ folder. A theme built with Tutor LMS in mind needs fewer overrides and survives updates better. We pick or build the theme with that in mind, and keep design changes in a child theme. If you need a fully custom look, see Tutor LMS theme development.
The learning experience
Tutor LMS 4 introduced a redesigned learning area with Modern, Kids and Legacy learning modes, light and dark themes and a resource center (lesson notes are a Tutor LMS Pro feature). The choice affects which quiz types are available, because the newer Pro question types are not supported in legacy mode. We set this up to suit your audience and test it on phones, where most students learn.
How you sell
Native eCommerce keeps carts, orders, coupons and tax inside Tutor LMS, with PayPal and manual payments in the free plugin and more gateways with Pro. WooCommerce links each course to a product and opens up WooCommerce extensions. Subscriptions and memberships suit recurring revenue. We recommend the option that fits your products and reporting, then test every payment method with real enrollments.
Speed and search
Students are logged in, so their pages are generated fresh. Good hosting, object caching, a lean theme and careful plugin choices matter more than on a normal site. For visitors, course pages need clean URLs, unique titles and descriptions, and structured data where it applies. We build both in from the start.
