How the Tutor LMS WooCommerce link works
Linking courses and products
When monetization is set to WooCommerce, each paid course is linked to a WooCommerce product, stored in course meta as _tutor_course_product_id. A purchase of that product creates the enrollment. One product per course keeps reporting clean.
Order status decides access
Tutor LMS creates the enrollment when the order is placed and completes it when the order is completed. Many gateways leave virtual orders in processing, so Tutor LMS offers a setting to complete WooCommerce orders for courses automatically, and another to redirect the buyer to their enrolled courses afterwards. Without these, buyers wait for an admin to complete the order. The enrollment record also stores the order ID, so refunds can be traced back.
Hooks for custom rules
Tutor LMS includes WooCommerce-specific filters, for example tutor_should_fire_after_enrolled_for_wc_order and tutor_wc_should_process_checkout_order_item, and commission data passes through tutor_new_earning_data. We use them for custom cases such as bundles of courses in one product or B2B purchases.
WooCommerce or native?
Tutor LMS also has its own eCommerce engine with cart, checkout, coupons and tax. If you only sell courses, native may be simpler. If you need WooCommerce extensions or sell other products, WooCommerce is the better fit. We explain the trade-offs in our selling guides.
