Choosing between web, PWA and native
The mobile web baseline
Tutor LMS 4 introduced a redesigned, mobile-friendly learning experience. Combined with a lightweight theme and good video hosting, it covers most needs. We test every screen on real devices and fix what is awkward.
Progressive web apps
A PWA adds a web app manifest, a service worker, an install prompt and optional push notifications to your existing site. It costs far less than a native app and needs no store approval, but iOS supports fewer PWA features than Android.
Native apps and the API
A native app talks to Tutor LMS through its REST API (tutor/v1). The free plugin provides read endpoints for courses, lessons and quizzes; Pro adds enrollment, progress, quiz attempt and profile endpoints. Authentication uses API keys or a token layer we add; secrets never ship inside the app. See Tutor LMS API development.
Payments in apps
App stores have rules about selling digital content inside apps. Many LMS apps let students buy on the website and learn in the app. We help you plan this before development.
