How to Set Course Prices in Tutor LMS
Set free and paid course prices in Tutor LMS 4: regular and sale prices, scheduled sales, purchase options, subscriptions, WooCommerce products and tax.
Checked against the plugin source: Tutor LMS 4.1.3, Tutor LMS Pro 4.1.3

Every Tutor LMS course is free or paid. How you set the price depends on your eCommerce engine. This guide covers pricing with Tutor LMS native eCommerce, with WooCommerce and with Tutor LMS Pro subscriptions.
Before you set prices
Choose your eCommerce engine under Tutor LMS > Settings > Monetization > Options. If monetization is disabled, every course is free and the price fields do not appear. With Native, also set the currency, currency position, separators and number of decimals in the same place.
Free courses
In the course builder, Basic tab, set the Pricing Model to Free. Students enroll with one click. If you want the content readable without any enrollment at all, use Make This Course Public. No Enrollment Required. That option is only for free courses: Tutor LMS does not allow paid courses to be public.
Paid courses with native eCommerce
- Set the Pricing Model to Paid.
- Enter the Regular Price.
- Optionally tick Offer sale price, enter the Sale Price (it must be lower than the regular price) and, if you want, Schedule the sale price with start and end dates and times.
- Decide whether to charge tax using Tax Collection.
- Save or update the course.
Students then see the price on the course page and buy through the Tutor LMS cart and checkout. When the payment completes, the enrollment is completed automatically.
Purchase options with subscriptions (Pro)
With the Subscription add-on in Tutor LMS Pro, the Purchase Options setting appears:
- One-time purchase only
- Subscription only
- Subscription & one-time purchase: let the student choose.
- Membership only: the course is only available through a membership plan.
Subscription plans have a billing interval (day, week, month or year), a number of billing cycles or "until cancelled", an optional trial and an optional enrollment fee. See selling subscriptions.
Paid courses with WooCommerce
When WooCommerce is the engine, a paid course is linked to a WooCommerce product. In the course builder you can select an existing product, or let Tutor LMS create a new product for you. The price is then managed on the WooCommerce product. Tutor LMS stores the link in the course meta _tutor_course_product_id. See selling with WooCommerce.
Paid courses with Easy Digital Downloads
With EDD as the engine, select the EDD download that sells the course. Prices are managed in EDD.
Coupons and bundles
Native eCommerce supports coupons with percentage or flat discounts, automatic or code-based, and usage limits. Enable coupon entry under Monetization > Checkout. Course bundles (Pro) sell several courses for one price. See creating coupons and course bundles.
Pricing tips
- Price on outcome, not hours of video.
- Use scheduled sale prices for launches instead of changing the regular price.
- Offer a bundle for students who want everything.
- Test the full purchase with each payment method before launch.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see price fields?
Monetization is probably disabled. Choose an eCommerce engine under Settings > Monetization.
Can I change a price after students have enrolled?
Yes. Existing enrollments are not affected; new buyers pay the new price.
Can different instructors set different prices?
Yes. Instructors set prices on their own courses, and revenue sharing applies to each sale.
