Checked against the plugin source: Tutor LMS 4.1.3, Tutor LMS Pro 4.1.3

Coupons drive launches, reward loyal students and recover hesitant buyers. Tutor LMS native eCommerce has a capable coupon system in the free plugin. This guide covers every option in Tutor LMS 4.1.3.
Before you start
Coupons are part of native eCommerce. Select Native under Settings > Monetization > Options, and turn on Enable Coupon Code under Monetization > Checkout so buyers can enter codes. (If you sell with WooCommerce, use WooCommerce coupons instead.)
Create a coupon
Go to Tutor LMS > Coupons and create a coupon ("Create a coupon code or set up automatic discounts").
Method
- Code: buyers enter a code at checkout. Use Generate Code for a random one or type your own.
- Automatic: the discount applies without a code when the conditions are met. Good for site-wide sales.
Coupon info
Give it a title (for your reference) and, optionally, a description.
Discount
- Discount Type: Percentage or Fixed Amount.
- Discount Value.
Applies to
Choose one: all courses and bundles, all courses, all bundles, specific courses, specific bundles, a specific category, or (with subscriptions) all membership plans or specific plans.
Usage limits
- Limit the number of times the coupon can be used in total.
- Limit the number of times one customer can use it (for example, one use per customer).
Minimum purchase requirements
- No minimum requirements.
- A minimum purchase amount.
- A minimum quantity of courses.
Active dates
Set a start date and time and, optionally, an end date. "Leaving the end date blank will make the coupon valid indefinitely."
Status
Active or Inactive. Use Inactive to pause a coupon without deleting it.
How coupons are stored
Coupons live in the tutor_coupons table, with the items they apply to in tutor_coupon_applications and each use recorded in tutor_coupon_usages. Orders keep the coupon code and discount amount, so reports show what each coupon cost you.
Coupon ideas that work
- Launch week: automatic 30% off a new course with an end date.
- Bundle upgrade: a code for students who bought one course to get the bundle cheaper.
- Abandoned checkout: a one-use-per-customer code in a follow-up email.
- Partners: a code per partner to track referrals.
- Volume: a discount when buying three or more courses (minimum quantity).
Things to watch
- Coupons reduce the price used for instructor revenue sharing.
- Stacking: test how automatic discounts and codes interact in your setup before a big campaign.
- Sale prices and coupons both reduce the price; decide which you want to use for a promotion.
