How to Export and Import Courses in Tutor LMS Pro
Move courses, bundles, content bank items and settings between Tutor LMS sites with the Pro import/export tool, including media and user data options.
Checked against the plugin source: Tutor LMS 4.1.3, Tutor LMS Pro 4.1.3

Moving a course from one Tutor LMS site to another used to mean rebuilding it by hand. Tutor LMS Pro includes an import and export tool that packages courses and related content so you can import them elsewhere. This guide explains what it moves and how to use it.
Where to find it
Go to Tutor LMS > Tools > Import/Export. The screen describes it as a way to "easily export your courses, lessons, quizzes, assignments, global settings, etc." The export and import engine is part of Tutor LMS Pro.
What you can export
- Courses, with their topics, lessons, quizzes and assignments. Choose all courses or specific ones.
- Bundles, all or specific ones.
- Content Bank collections and items.
- Settings: the global Tutor LMS settings.
Two options change what goes in the package:
- Keep Media Files: "If checked, course media files will also be exported with the course data."
- Keep User Data: "If checked, user data will also be exported with the course data."
Pro's tools include exporters for enrollments, orders, progress, subscriptions and plans, which is what "user data" brings along.
How to export
- Open Tools > Import/Export and choose Export.
- Select what to export ("What do you want to export?").
- Tick Keep Media Files and Keep User Data if needed.
- Click Initiate Export and wait for "Export Successful".
- Download the file. If some items could not be exported, the summary lists them.
How to import
- On the target site, make sure Tutor LMS and Tutor LMS Pro are installed and on compatible versions, ideally the same versions as the source site.
- Open Tools > Import/Export and choose Import.
- Upload the file and start the import.
- Review the result. Items that could not be imported are listed.
There is also an option to import items into the Content Bank without creating courses, useful when you want to reuse lessons and questions rather than whole courses.
Things to check after an import
- Course prices and the eCommerce engine on the new site. A WooCommerce product link will not exist on a new site; set prices again.
- Instructors: the course author must exist on the new site.
- Videos: embedded and hosted videos keep working; self-hosted media needs Keep Media Files.
- Certificates, if the Certificate Builder templates are not on the new site.
- Links inside lesson content that point to the old domain.
When the tool is not enough
- Moving from another LMS (LearnDash, LifterLMS, LearnPress, Moodle, Teachable): the tool reads Tutor LMS packages only. Migrations need a mapping and scripts. See our migration service.
- Moving a whole site: use a full site migration (files and database) instead, so all students, orders and progress move together. See moving a Tutor LMS site.
